My 80-year-old grandmother is considered very healthy for her age. She worked hard to keep her body healthy by dieting, restricting sugar and going on daily walks. Two years ago, she had an accident and fell on her tailbone. Since then, she has restricted mobility and is constantly in pain around the hip. Her x-rays showed no cracks or fractures and her doctors could not figure out the cause of pain. She grew weaker each time I saw her, as if the injury has drained the life force out of her.
